Special machines for the food industry in stainless steel are often prepared with acid stain and are shot blasted with glass beads to obtain the exact satiny surface. Shot blasting with glass beads can be performed in an abrasive blasting cabinet with small glass beads usually in size 100 to 200 microns, which gives the stainless steel a matt surface that will "let go" fatty or frozen foods, while allowing a proper finish on the end result of the machine. By using the proper size of glass beads you can adjust the surface roughness to fit exactly to the customer's requirements.
