ABRASIVES

Abrasives

At Clemco Denmark we sell all kinds of abrasives for shot blasting of all kinds of surface treatment. We have chosen all our suppliers from a very high quality point of view. We know that our customers need good quality to be able to deliver high standard surface treatments.

We get our shot and grit from Ervin Amasteel and Ervin Stainless who offer exceptional durability and transmitted energy, with a process that ensures exceptionally narrow variation in particle size and consistent metallurgical structure. Ervin is the acknowledged leader in supplying steel shot and grit with very high quality standards.

In tests carried out under laboratory conditions at Ervin Amasteel, the abrasive outperforms equivalent competitors by an average factor of at least 18% for durability and transmitted energy.

At Clemco Denmark we perform sieve analysis to optimize your consumption of steel shots and to achieve an optimal cleaning and preparation of your steel objects.

STEEL GRIT

Steel grit for shot blasting

Clemco Denmark sells steel grit of a very high quality from Ervin Amasteel who is a world leading company within steel grit.

Ervin Amasteel uses a quality specific heat treatment process. That means that each hardening furnace treating particles of the same size. This makes it possible to carry out accurate and deep heat treatment through each and every particle, which provides a hardness that is both uniform and optimal.

At Clemco Denmark we perform sieve analysis to optimize your consumption of steel shots and to achieve an optimal cleaning and preparation of your steel objects.

Advantages:
The advantage of using steel grit for shot blasting of steel components is that you can achieve a very sharp surface profile which is suitable for a following zinc / aluminum metallization. Steel grit has the advantage that it can be used up to 250 passes /flows. This provides an attractive operating economy compared to abrasive blasting with corundum or garnet sand, where you can also obtain sharp surface profiles on the finished article, but this type of abrasive can only be reused up to 3-4 times before turning into dust.

Structure:
The fine and uniform structure caused by the atomizing process, coupled with the water-quenched heat treatment processes, lead to the best metallurgical structure to enable high levels of energy transfer coupled with durability to reduce consumption.

Sizing and Shape:
Ervin product is rigorously screened throughout the production process for size, and for anomalies in shape or structure. All product delivered is traceable, and we guarantee specification adherence. And it is always true that the smallest suitable grit will give the best blasting coverage.

Chemistry:
It is easy to reduce the cost of manufacturing steel abrasive, by purchasing uncontrolled raw materials and reducing the addition of ferroalloys and other components that ensure consistency.

STEEL SHOTS

Steel shots for shot blasting

Clemco Denmark sells steel shots of a very high quality from Ervin Amasteel who is a world leading company within steel shots. Ervin Amasteel uses a quality specific heat treatment proces. That meens that each hardening furnace treating particles of the same size.

Advantages :
The advantage of using steel shots for shotblasting of steel components is that you achieve a very high purity in an automatic wheel blasting process. However, it is important that the size of the steel shots are properly selected in relation to the item to be treated and to the purity to be obtained.

Structure:
The fine and uniform structure caused by the atomising process, coupled with the water-quenched heat treatment processes, lead to the best metallurgical structure to enable high levels of energy transfer coupled with durability to reduce consumption. From January to December 2012, Ervin Amasteel shot tested against equivalent manufacturers’ products averaged 21% better in this regard.

STAINLESS STEEL SHOTS

Stainless steel shots for shot blasting

The Ervin stainless technology is the most advanced in the world, combining the unique resources of the R&D center in ecumseh, Michigan, and the expertise of the German facility in Sprockhövel. This makes Amachrome the highest quality ferritic stainless abrasive media. Each grain is individually processed and sorted to ensure the right spherical shape and resilience to provide the longest durability.

Advantages :

  • Amachrome at work: enhancing and securing your operation!
  • Environmentally friendly from manufacturing process to blasting and recycling
  • Technically effective with the highest energy transmission and a long durability
  • Economically sound providing the lowest operating cost
  • Amachrome is contaminant free thanks to its confined process of production.

Amachrome is used in most impact treatments:

  • Cleaning and deburring
  • Surface enhancement and finishing

Amachrome is recommended where ferrous contamination should be avoided:

  • Aluminum profiles prior to coating, castings and other parts
  • Stainless steel forgings, structural parts and welded fabrications
  • Zinc, brass and other non ferrous metals die-castings and parts
  • Granite, other natural stone and concrete to create an anti-skidding roughness finishing

CORUNDUM

Curundum for shot blasting

Corundum, or alumina is the hardest abrasives we offer . We carry all types of brown fused alumina and and white fused alumina to be used for steel, glass, granite and other stone materials.

White fused alumina :
White fused alumina is suitable as iron-free medium and used for applications in the abrasive and refractory industry and as a jet-material in the aluminium-, optical and dental industry. Because of its transparency and its scratch resistance, white fused aluminium is also used in resins and coatings in the laquer and laminate industry.

Brown fused alumina :
Standard brown corundum is used for the most demanding applications in the abrasive and refractory industry and as non-ferrous material in surface treatment. The material is extremely resistant and combines the properties of toughness and hardness. In comparison to white fused alumina, brown fused alumina is less pure, and contains titanium oxide in addition to aluminium oxide. Brown fused alumina is a blasting media with a very wide application range.

GLASS BEADS

Glass beads for shot blasting

Glass beads can remove impurities and metallic oxides due to its hardness and ball shape, without damaging the treated surface itself. Since glass does not react chemically with other minerals, the micro balls do not cause any corrosion on the treated surfaces.
Clemco Denmark buys their glass beads within EU which requires very high demands on the chemical purity. The large glass factories in China typically uses old fluorescent tubes and TV screens that also contain large amounts of heavy metals. And as the operator comes in physical contact with the glass beads during the shot blasting proces it is therefore very important that the glass abrasives are not containing arsenic and heavy metals.

Glass beads are a non-ferrous reusable blasting media with a wide application range. It is ideally suitable for blasting of all metallic and non-metallic workpieces. Due to the round shape of the beads, this blasting media is used for gentle cleaning.

Glass beads are not as hard as corundum, but it still removes impurities thoroughly on surfaces. Glass beads used for surface treatment on aluminum and stainless steel leaves the surface with a satin-like surface perfect for resisting dirt and grease. Glass beads are very suitable for shot blasting in cabinets, as wear will be relatively limited with this type of abrasives. And shot blasting with glass beads on aluminum surfaces such as engine parts leaves the surface completely clean making parts look like new again.

Equipment used for food processing, which is made of stainless steel, can greatly benefit from shotblasting with glass beads to obtain a surface that can easily be cleaned or where the surface must have a function in relation to the contact with food. For example, you will have a greater "let go" function in the contact between the surface and frozen or wet food, whn you use glass beads for surface treatment on stainless steel. We are able to advise you on what size of glass beads you should use to achieve the roughness that is most optimal for the surface you are about to prepare.
